Daring together to set love free
The handful of hopeful activists who came together to form the Body Politic Collective in 1971 could hardly have imagined that what they started would not only endure – almost 40 years, so far – but flourish, making the transition from a financially precarious and single-minded labour of love to a stable and far-flung enterprise.
But they would be proud to know that their goals are still the goals we call our own. The Press remains an organization without owners or shareholders: no one can walk away with the gains of anyone else's labour.
And the Press's mission statement, though rewritten over time, still calls us to their original vision: the engagement of our communities in the struggle for our common liberation.
