Pink Triangle Press announced today the appointment of Gareth Kirkby as Producer of Xtra.ca, PTP's national internet website.

Kirkby is Associate Publisher and Editor of Capital Xtra, PTP's lesbian and gay community newspaper in Ottawa. He will retain this position while taking on the additional responsibility for Xtra.ca.

Launched in 1999, Xtra.ca is currently the on-line presence of PTP's three community papers: Xtra (Toronto), Xtra West (Vancouver) and Capital Xtra (Ottawa).

PTP Executive Director Ken Popert, who made the appointment, explained that Kirkby "presented a compelling vision of Xtra.ca" at a PTP conference held in Toronto last fall. That vision positions Xtra.ca as "an instrument for mobilizing Canada's English-speaking gay and lesbian population."
