Pink Triangle Press Executive Director Ken Popert announced today the appointment of a new publisher for PTP's recent US acquisition, The Guide.

Ken Hickling, who is the Publisher and Editor-in-chief of PTP's Vancouver community newspaper, Xtra West, has now also assumed responsibility for The Guide.

The Guide, a monthly sexual politics and travel magazine distributed widely in the United States and Canada, was purchased last summer from Fidelity Press. The acquisition included the monthly's website, Guidemag.com.

Popert explained the change as a move "to make better use of our people and to ease the burden of Xtra Publisher & Editor-in-chief Brandon Matheson." Matheson, who publishes both PTP's flagship Toronto community newspaper, Xtra, and Ottawa's Capital Xtra, had been responsible for managing The Guide through its transition to PTP.

The Guide and its website will form a new division of the Press.
